DESCRIPTION:Join us in our mission to restore our clinic and continue serving those in need. Together\, we can make a difference! \nWe are excited to announce our third annual 5K for the Free Clinic! In previous years\, this event has successfully raised funds for colon cancer awareness\, education\, and screenings. Unfortunately\, this past Christmas\, our clinic building suffered extensive smoke damage due to a nearby fire. \nAs we work to RISE and REBUILD\, we are pivoting our efforts to ensure our patients continue to receive care at alternative locations. This year\, our 5K will focus on raising funds to rebuild our Main Street location\, so we can resume providing essential medical and dental services to our underinsured community. \nThe FREE CLINIC OF CENTRAL VIRGINIA\nThe mission of the Free Clinic of Central Virginia is to ensure high-quality\, compassionate\, and comprehensive healthcare for every member of our community. DESCRIPTION:A fun run\, hosted by Riverside Runners\, Mizuno\, the Free Clinic\, and the Lynchburg Road Runners that will highlight the “new’ Rise & Rebuild 5K course. Participants will have an opportunity to demo Mizuno footwear and win some fun door prizes. \nOur start and finish is on the Linkhorne Middle School track. The course is out & back and uses the Linkhorne Bridge Trail extension of the Blackwater Creek Bikeway. Surfaces are paved.\nRegistration is Free and all paces are welcome.

SUMMARY:Medical Mountains 5K Run/Walk
DESCRIPTION:The Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine\, Student Advocates Association is pleased to present the Medical Mountains 5K. Proceeds of this race will benefit students who are currently attending medical school and experiencing extreme medical hardships. \nMost families have very limited financial resources during medical school. When someone in their family has a medical emergency it quickly becomes a financial burden. Some examples of what families and students have gone through include a daughter who has relapsed in her cancer diagnosis\, a wife and mother who had brain cancer and recently passed away\, and a student (who is also a husband and father) who had complications from Crohn’s disease which required surgery and a year off school. These are just a few examples from more recent years. Not only do these situations burden these families during medical school\, but even after graduation\, graduates still have a minimum of three years until they will experience any substantial income. This makes it nearly impossible to pay off any medical bills accrued at that time. Our hope is to be able to provide some financial relief to the approved applicants and help them to more freely move forward with their education.
