DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wanted to run a 5K but didn’t know how?\nNeed accountability as you begin your running program for 2024?\nWant more knowledge on proper training as a runner?\nNeed motivation?\nWant to have fun? \nThe Happy Pace Beginners Training Group is for you! \nOUR GOAL:\nTo encourage\, motivate\, and teach beginner runners the joy of running while being healthy and having fun. Completing a 5K is optional. But we sure hope you give it a try! #inspiremovement \nWHO:\nRegistration is open to beginner runners\, men and women\, age 18+ (currently at a 12-15 min/mile pace) for one mile. Not sure what your pace is? 4 laps equal a metric mile on any outdoor high school or college track. \nWHAT:\nAn *8 week 5k training program for mid to late April 5ks (Blossom to Bottle 5K\, Run 4 Their Lives 5K\, United Way 5k on the Runway).\n* Bonus 9th week if choose to run with us through the end of April. \nWHERE:\nMeeting at Riverside Runners\, Lynchburg’s specialty running and walking store\, 2480 Rivermont Avenue\, Lynchburg\, VA 24503 \nWHEN:\n6pm on Tuesdays beginning February 20th and ending Tuesday April 23rd. \nHAPPY PACE TRAINING GROUP BENEFITS:\n– Coach led\, once a week practices from Riverside Runners each Tuesday.\n– A training program for beginner runners focused on an April 5K.\n– Save up to 25% on footwear\, apparel\, and accessories at Riverside Runners

SUMMARY:2nd Annual Free Clinic Colon Cancer 5K Run / Walk
DESCRIPTION:This run and walk is for anyone who has been impacted by colon cancer because NO ONE FIGHTS ALONE. Survivors\, current battlers\, caregivers\, family members\, friends\, coworkers\, sisters\, husbands\, mothers\, or anyone who wants to increase access to healthcare and screening sign up to help change the statistics. \nColon Cancer screening is one of the most underused ways to save someone’s life from cancer that exists. Stage one colon cancer has over a 90% survival rate but colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the US. Lack of access to healthcare and early screening measures but 60% of these deaths can be avoided with screening. 76% of uninsured have not had a colon cancer screening and lack access to proper medical care. \nThe FREE CLINIC OF CENTRAL VIRGINIA\nThe mission of the Free Clinic of Central Virginia is to ensure high-quality\, compassionate\, and comprehensive healthcare for every member of our community. We fulfill this mission by providing high-quality medical\, dental\, pharmacy\, behavioral health\, and health education services to those in Central Virginia who do not have the resources to obtain these essential healthcare services. We are not funded by the government but instead we are funded by our community and largely run by volunteers that are passionate about serving others. We are here for you.
