SUMMARY:Medical Mountains 5K Run/Walk
DESCRIPTION:The Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine\, Student Advocates Association is pleased to present the Medical Mountains 5K. Proceeds of this race will benefit students who are currently attending medical school and experiencing extreme medical hardships. \nMost families have very limited financial resources during medical school. When someone in their family has a medical emergency it quickly becomes a financial burden. Some examples of what families and students have gone through include a daughter who has relapsed in her cancer diagnosis\, a wife and mother who had brain cancer and recently passed away\, and a student (who is also a husband and father) who had complications from Crohn’s disease which required surgery and a year off school. These are just a few examples from more recent years. Not only do these situations burden these families during medical school\, but even after graduation\, graduates still have a minimum of three years until they will experience any substantial income. This makes it nearly impossible to pay off any medical bills accrued at that time. Our hope is to be able to provide some financial relief to the approved applicants and help them to more freely move forward with their education. DESCRIPTION:Start your 4th of July celebration with Percival’s Island Firecracker 5 Miler! \nLynchburg is known as the “Hill City”….but this course is flat\, flat\, flat.  The start finish is located at the Blackwater Creek Natural Area Percival’s Island in downtown Lynchburg and the course follows the Blackwater Creek Bikeway…a paved rails to trails path along the James River. A bit longer than a 5k but without the effort of a 10k\, 5 miles is considered by many the perfect distance.

This out and back course runs in the direction of the old Farmville train station. Grade is relatively flat. Surface is fine\, crushed\, gravel. Timing and scoring of the 10K run will be provided. Both the 10K and the 5K events start together at 8:30am.  Medals will be presented to the top 3 overall male & female finishers and top finishers in each age category that participated in the 10K. SUMMARY:9th Annual High Bridge Half Marathon & 5k
DESCRIPTION:**  FOR UPDATES CONCERING HURRICANE IAN\, PLEASE VISIT THE EVENT’S REGISTRATION PAGE ** \nThe town of Farmville in south central Virginia has been hailed as “America’s Crucible”. The site of one of the last battles of the War Between the States and one of the first critical moments in the Battle for Civil Rights in Education\, Farmville is truly the Heart of Virginia. Home to Green Front Furniture and a delightful historic commercial district filled with restaurants\, retail\, and galleries\, Farmville promises something for everyone who comes to spend a day\, a weekend\, or a lifetime.  \nThe historic High Bridge runs through the Heart of Virginia in Prince Edward and Cumberland Counties. Heralded as the largest bridge of its kind in the United States\, the High Bridge and the battle for control of it was a contributing factor to General Robert E. Lee’s surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia in nearby Appomattox Courthouse. Today\, the bridge is the centerpiece of the 31-mile High Bridge Trail State Park that includes the historic commercial district of Farmville. \nThe race will be held on an out-and-back course beginning in Farmville Downtown at High Bridge Trail State Park Plaza.  The park is a rail to trail conversion that is wide\, level and has very little grade.  The trail surface consists of finely crushed\, well-packed limestone.  The half marathon will cross the historic High Bridge twice.  High Bridge is nearly a half mile long and towers 125 feet above the Appomattox River. \nRunners will enjoy on-course support with spirit groups\, music\, water stations\, and Port-O-Potties. Finsher medals will be presented to all Half Marathon finishers who complete their race during the designated time period of 4 hours.

Dr. Stephenson was one of the founding pediatricians of Richeson Drive Pediatrics. Now Lynchburg Pediatrics. He promoted healthy children and being active outside. When he died at a young age a memorial race was started to honor his passion for promoting healthy lifestyles. \nRace distances and courses are….3 & under 1/8th mile\, 4-5 yrs old 1/4 mile\, 6-7 yrs. old 1/2 mile\, 8-13 yrs. old 1 mile. All events take place at Riverside Park\, Rivermont Ave.\, Lynchburg\, Virginia. Proceeds benefit the Lynchburg Road Runners Club a 501c3 non-profit whose mission remains to promote community health and wellness through the sport of running.

Enjoy the picturesque scenery of the infamous “Dairy Loop” as well as the surrounding of Sweet Briar College. Proceeds from this event support Neighbors Helping Neighbors of Amherst County\, Inc (NHN) where our primary focus is to assist individuals in overcoming food insecurity by providing nutritious meals through food kitchens and selective shopping Food Warehouse. On May 5th\, 2016\, we started serving nutritious lunch meals to anyone who has a need for a meal that day during lunchtime. NHN Volunteers prep and serve lunches twice a week.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a 3 mile fun run followed by an awards ceremony for the 2022 LRRC Race Series.\nThe 3 mile fun run starting from Mission Coffee House (722 Commerce St) going up Monument Terrace followed by a loop through the City Cemetery and returning to the start.\nHalloween costumes are optional with prizes to the best (as judged by your peers). There will also be door prizes. At the conclusion of the fun run around 2:45 pm\, we’ll have our LRRC Race Series awards ceremony.
