DESCRIPTION:Join us in our mission to restore our clinic and continue serving those in need. Together\, we can make a difference! \nWe are excited to announce our third annual 5K for the Free Clinic! In previous years\, this event has successfully raised funds for colon cancer awareness\, education\, and screenings. Unfortunately\, this past Christmas\, our clinic building suffered extensive smoke damage due to a nearby fire. \nAs we work to RISE and REBUILD\, we are pivoting our efforts to ensure our patients continue to receive care at alternative locations. This year\, our 5K will focus on raising funds to rebuild our Main Street location\, so we can resume providing essential medical and dental services to our underinsured community. \nThe FREE CLINIC OF CENTRAL VIRGINIA\nThe mission of the Free Clinic of Central Virginia is to ensure high-quality\, compassionate\, and comprehensive healthcare for every member of our community. We fulfill this mission by providing high-quality medical\, dental\, pharmacy\, behavioral health\, and health education services to those in Central Virginia who do not have the resources to obtain these essential healthcare services. We are not funded by the government but instead we are funded by our community and largely run by volunteers that are passionate about serving others. We are here for you.

In our most recent race\, over 600 individuals participated helping Danville-Pittsylvania Cancer raise over $60\,000! \nDanville-Pittsylvania Cancer is a local 501(c)(3) charitable organization that provides assistance to cancer patients by providing travel reimbursement\, prescriptions\, nutrition\, medical supplies and equipment\, prostheses\, and wigs\, as well as emotional\, and educational support.

DESCRIPTION:Eastlake Community Church invites you to participate in the 7th Annual Beastlake 5K and Obstacle Course races on Saturday July 5th. This is a community event open to all people\, of all fitness levels\, from the novice to the hardcore athlete. Choose from one of three events that best suits your fitness and skill level. This event raises fund for Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy. \nThe BeastLake is back for the 7th year\, and we have some new twists along with favorite obstacles from past years. Back for 2025 is a “ stay cool” option to the course that includes a ‘slip n slide” type water slide down part of the course\, an option to do the balance beam over an inflatable pool. and an option to run through a section of sprinklers midway through the race.  All the water features are OPTIONAL and designed to bring an additional fun experience to the race.  We will also be having food trucks at this years race with registered 5KOC and 5K participants receiving food vouchers.

The event is the final event of the 2025 Spring/ Summer Lynchburg Road Runners Race Series. \nTHE LEGEND OF KEMPER the RABBIT\nSometime around 1912\, the same year that the Kemper Street Train Station was opened by Southern Railway\, local Lynchburg residents recall witnessing a certain rabbit chasing trains as they left station. It wasn’t long before that rabbit was given the name “Kemper”. Some say Kemper was able to keep up with departing trains for almost a mile!  If you are lucky to run the Kemper Street Trail extension early in the morning you might see a descendant or two of Kemper running right along side you.

SUMMARY:11th Annual High Bridge Half Marathon & 5k
DESCRIPTION:The town of Farmville in south central Virginia has been hailed as “America’s Crucible”. The site of one of the last battles of the War Between the States and one of the first critical moments in the Battle for Civil Rights in Education\, Farmville is truly the Heart of Virginia. Home to Green Front Furniture and a delightful historic commercial district filled with restaurants\, retail\, and galleries\, Farmville promises something for everyone who comes to spend a day\, a weekend\, or a lifetime.  \nThe historic High Bridge runs through the Heart of Virginia in Prince Edward and Cumberland Counties. Heralded as the largest bridge of its kind in the United States\, the High Bridge and the battle for control of it was a contributing factor to General Robert E. Lee’s surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia in nearby Appomattox Courthouse. Today\, the bridge is the centerpiece of the 31-mile High Bridge Trail State Park that includes the historic commercial district of Farmville. \nThe race will be held on an out-and-back course beginning in Farmville Downtown at High Bridge Trail State Park Plaza.  The park is a rail to trail conversion that is wide\, level and has very little grade.  The trail surface consists of finely crushed\, well-packed limestone.  The half marathon will cross the historic High Bridge twice.  High Bridge is nearly a half mile long and towers 125 feet above the Appomattox River. \nRunners will enjoy on-course support with spirit groups\, music\, water stations\, and Port-O-Potties. Finisher medals will be presented to all Half Marathon finishers who complete their race during the designated time period of 4 hours.

Enjoy the picturesque scenery of the infamous “Dairy Loop” as well as the surrounding of Sweet Briar College. Proceeds from this event support Neighbors Helping Neighbors of Amherst County\, Inc (NHN) where our primary focus is to assist individuals in overcoming food insecurity by providing nutritious meals through food kitchens and selective shopping Food Warehouse. On May 5th\, 2016\, we started serving nutritious lunch meals to anyone who has a need for a meal that day during lunchtime. NHN Volunteers prep and serve lunches twice a week.
