Virtual options are also available. \nDuring its history\, Bridge2Bridge Danville has raised over $900\,000 benefiting cancer patients within Danville and Pittsylvania County. In our most recent race\, over 600 individuals participated helping Danville-Pittsylvania Cancer raise over $60\,000! \nDanville-Pittsylvania Cancer is a local 501(c)(3) charitable organization that provides assistance to cancer patients by providing travel reimbursement\, prescriptions\, nutrition\, medical supplies and equipment\, prostheses\, and wigs\, as well as emotional\, and educational support.

DESCRIPTION:The United Way 5K on the Runway\, is perfect for participants of all ages who are able to complete 5K in 60 minutes or less. The course is flat and fast. The course follows the taxiway parallel to the main runway. Come out\, join the fun\, support United Way of Central Virginia\, and see Lynchburg Regional Airport in a whole new way! There is a 500-person and 60 minute time limit for the event. The United Way 5K on the Runway is scheduled to take flight on SATURDAY April 27th\, 2024\, 5:00PM. Proceeds from this event support the mission of the United Way of Central Virginia.

DESCRIPTION:Celebrate National Trails Day by participating in a 5K race on High Bridge Trail State Park sponsored by Centra Southside Community Hospital. The park is a rail to trail conversion and is a wide\, level surface with virtually no grade. DESCRIPTION:Eastlake Community Church invites you to participate in the 6th Annual Beastlake 5K and Obstacle Course races on Saturday July 6th. This is a community event open to all people\, of all fitness levels\, from the novice to the hardcore athlete. Choose from one of three events that best suits your fitness and skill level. This event raises fund for Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy. \nThe BeastLake is back for the sixth year\, and we have some new twists along with favorite obstacles from past years. Back for 2024 is a “ stay cool” option to the course that includes a ‘slip n slide” type water slide down part of the course\, an option to do the balance beam over an inflatable pool. and an option to run through a section of sprinklers midway through the race. All the water features are OPTIONAL and designed to bring an additional fun experience to the race. We will also be having food trucks at this years race with registered 5KOC and 5K participants receiving food vouchers.

The event is the final event of the 2024 Spring/ Summer Lynchburg Road Runners Race Series. \nRegistration will open late May 2024. \nTHE LEGEND OF KEMPER the RABBIT\nSometime around 1912\, the same year that the Kemper Street Train Station was opened by Southern Railway\, local Lynchburg residents recall witnessing a certain rabbit chasing trains as they left station. It wasn’t long before that rabbit was given the name “Kemper”. Some say Kemper was able to keep up with departing trains for almost a mile!  If you are lucky to run the Kemper Street Trail extension early in the morning you might see a descendant or two of Kemper running right along side you.

SUMMARY:Heart of Virginia Festival 10K & 5k Run
DESCRIPTION:The Heart of Virginia Festival has been moved to September. As a result the annual Heart of Virginia 10k & 5K has moved to September. We look forward to continuing this Farmville tradition! \n10K Race Description (RUN ONLY): \nThe 10K begins at the Main Street Plaza on the High Bridge State Park Trail in Farmville\, Virginia. This out and back course runs in the direction of the old Farmville train station. Grade is relatively flat. Surface is fine\, crushed\, gravel. Timing and scoring of the 10K run will be provided. Both the 10K and the 5K events start together at 8:30am.  Medals will be presented to the top 3 overall male & female finishers and top finishers in each age category that participated in the 10K. Categories for men and women include: 18 & under\, 19 – 29\, 30 – 39\, 40 – 49\, 50 – 59\, 60 – 69\, 70 & over. \n5K Run/Walk Description (RUN & WALK): \nThe 5K begins at the Main Street Plaza on the High Bridge State Park Trail in Farmville\, Virginia. Runners and walkers are welcome to participate in the 5K and will be ranked together. This out and back course runs in the direction of the old Farmville train station. Grade is relatively flat.
