DESCRIPTION:Start your 4th of July celebration with Percival’s Island Firecracker 5 Miler! \nLynchburg is known as the “Hill City”….but this course is flat\, flat\, flat.  The start finish is located at the Blackwater Creek Natural Area Percival’s Island in downtown Lynchburg and the course follows the Blackwater Creek Bikeway…a paved rails to trails path along the James River. A bit longer than a 5k but without the effort of a 10k\, 5 miles is considered by many the perfect distance.

SUMMARY:7th Annual Beast Lake 5k & Obstacle Course Race
DESCRIPTION:Eastlake Community Church invites you to participate in the 7th Annual Beastlake 5K and Obstacle Course races on Saturday July 5th. This is a community event open to all people\, of all fitness levels\, from the novice to the hardcore athlete. Choose from one of three events that best suits your fitness and skill level. This event raises fund for Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy. \nThe BeastLake is back for the 7th year\, and we have some new twists along with favorite obstacles from past years. Back for 2025 is a “ stay cool” option to the course that includes a ‘slip n slide” type water slide down part of the course\, an option to do the balance beam over an inflatable pool. and an option to run through a section of sprinklers midway through the race.  All the water features are OPTIONAL and designed to bring an additional fun experience to the race.  We will also be having food trucks at this years race with registered 5KOC and 5K participants receiving food vouchers.

SUMMARY:11th Annual High Bridge Half Marathon & 5k
DESCRIPTION:The town of Farmville in south central Virginia has been hailed as “America’s Crucible”. The site of one of the last battles of the War Between the States and one of the first critical moments in the Battle for Civil Rights in Education\, Farmville is truly the Heart of Virginia. Home to Green Front Furniture and a delightful historic commercial district filled with restaurants\, retail\, and galleries\, Farmville promises something for everyone who comes to spend a day\, a weekend\, or a lifetime.  \nThe historic High Bridge runs through the Heart of Virginia in Prince Edward and Cumberland Counties. Heralded as the largest bridge of its kind in the United States\, the High Bridge and the battle for control of it was a contributing factor to General Robert E. Lee’s surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia in nearby Appomattox Courthouse. Today\, the bridge is the centerpiece of the 31-mile High Bridge Trail State Park that includes the historic commercial district of Farmville. \nThe race will be held on an out-and-back course beginning in Farmville Downtown at High Bridge Trail State Park Plaza.  The park is a rail to trail conversion that is wide\, level and has very little grade.  The trail surface consists of finely crushed\, well-packed limestone.  The half marathon will cross the historic High Bridge twice.  High Bridge is nearly a half mile long and towers 125 feet above the Appomattox River. \nRunners will enjoy on-course support with spirit groups\, music\, water stations\, and Port-O-Potties. Finisher medals will be presented to all Half Marathon finishers who complete their race during the designated time period of 4 hours.

And of course there’s medals for those who complete the race. The race begins and ends at the Claire Parker Foundation headquarters at 1019 9th Street Altavista\, VA. We encourage runners to “Deck” themselves out for this festive Christmas event. \nWe are also pleased to announce the addition of the VIRTUAL Deck the Heels 5k for those that are unable to join us in person. DESCRIPTION:Eastlake Community Church invites you to participate in the 8th Annual Beastlake 5K and Obstacle Course races on Saturday July 4th. This is a community event open to all people\, of all fitness levels\, from the novice to the hardcore athlete. Choose from one of three events that best suits your fitness and skill level. This event raises fund for Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy. \nThe BeastLake is back for the 8th year\, and we have some new twists along with favorite obstacles from past years. Back for 2026 is a “ stay cool” option to the course that includes a ‘slip n slide” type water slide down part of the course\, an option to do the balance beam over an inflatable pool. and an option to run through a section of sprinklers midway through the race.  All the water features are OPTIONAL and designed to bring an additional fun experience to the race.  We will also be having food trucks at this years race with registered 5KOC and 5K participants receiving food vouchers.

SUMMARY:12th Annual High Bridge Half Marathon & 5k
DESCRIPTION:The town of Farmville in south central Virginia has been hailed as “America’s Crucible”. The site of one of the last battles of the War Between the States and one of the first critical moments in the Battle for Civil Rights in Education\, Farmville is truly the Heart of Virginia. Home to Green Front Furniture and a delightful historic commercial district filled with restaurants\, retail\, and galleries\, Farmville promises something for everyone who comes to spend a day\, a weekend\, or a lifetime.  \nThe historic High Bridge runs through the Heart of Virginia in Prince Edward and Cumberland Counties. Heralded as the largest bridge of its kind in the United States\, the High Bridge and the battle for control of it was a contributing factor to General Robert E. Lee’s surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia in nearby Appomattox Courthouse. Today\, the bridge is the centerpiece of the 31-mile High Bridge Trail State Park that includes the historic commercial district of Farmville. \nThe race will be held on an out-and-back course beginning in Farmville Downtown at High Bridge Trail State Park Plaza.  The park is a rail to trail conversion that is wide\, level and has very little grade.  The trail surface consists of finely crushed\, well-packed limestone.  The half marathon will cross the historic High Bridge twice.  High Bridge is nearly a half mile long and towers 125 feet above the Appomattox River. \nRunners will enjoy on-course support with spirit groups\, music\, water stations\, and Port-O-Potties. Finisher medals will be presented to all Half Marathon finishers who complete their race during the designated time period of 4 hours.

We encourage runners to “Deck” themselves out for this festive Christmas event. \nWe are also pleased to announce the addition of the VIRTUAL Deck the Heels 5k for those that are unable to join us in person. Virtual participants are able to choose a 5k course and submit their time to our Results page. \nThe Claire Parker Foundation was created in memory of our daughter\, Claire. We provide ongoing care and emotional support for children and families battling pediatric cancer. Runners will turn around at intersection of Main St. & Lola Ave. at Miller and Wolf Dentistry. Runners will proceed South on Main Street\, crossing the bridge over the river. Runners will continue on Main St. into Hurt\, VA and proceed through the tunnel. Runners will turn around at stoplight at English Construction in Hurt\, and then proceed north back on Main Street. Finish line will be at corner of Main Street & Broad St. \nAs a virtual runner or walker you can participate from anywhere in the world on the 5K course
