Join more than 4\,000 runners on a historic course that has hosted participants from around the globe. The 10 mile run\, 4 and more mile run/walk\, and Amazing Mile Children’s Run invite men\, women\, and children of all ages and abilities to participate. \nThe festivities begin Thursday night with packet pick-up\, and continue Friday with the Amazing Mile Children’s Run\, and a fun\, family-friendly festival in downtown Lynchburg. Dr. Stephenson was one of the founding pediatricians of Richeson Drive Pediatrics. Now Lynchburg Pediatrics. He promoted healthy children and being active outside. When he died at a young age a memorial race was started to honor his passion for promoting healthy lifestyles. \nRace distances and courses are….3 & under 1/8th mile\, 4-5 yrs old 1/4 mile\, 6-7 yrs. old 1/2 mile\, 8-13 yrs. old 1 mile. All events take place at Riverside Park\, Rivermont Ave.\, Lynchburg\, Virginia. Proceeds benefit the Lynchburg Road Runners Club a 501c3 non-profit whose mission remains to promote community health and wellness through the sport of running.

DESCRIPTION:Start your 4th of July celebration with Percival’s Island Firecracker 5 Miler! \nLynchburg is known as the “Hill City”….but this course is flat\, flat\, flat.  The start finish is located at the Blackwater Creek Natural Area Percival’s Island in downtown Lynchburg and the course follows the Blackwater Creek Bikeway…a paved rails to trails path along the James River. A bit longer than a 5k but without the effort of a 10k\, 5 miles is considered by many the perfect distance.

DESCRIPTION:What’s one of the fastest ways to a 1 mile personal best?  A downhill mile of course! Join us Friday evening for the Kemper Downhill Mile. Fun\, Downhill\, and FAST are words that best describe this course.  The event is the final event of the 2023 Spring/ Summer Lynchburg Road Runners Race Series. \nTHE LEGEND OF KEMPER the RABBIT\nSometime around 1912\, the same year that the Kemper Street Train Station was opened by Southern Railway\, local Lynchburg residents recall witnessing a certain rabbit chasing trains as they left station. It wasn’t long before that rabbit was given the name “Kemper”. Some say Kemper was able to keep up with departing trains for almost a mile!  If you are lucky to run the Kemper Street Trail extension early in the morning you might see a descendant or two of Kemper running right along side you.

Dr. Stephenson was one of the founding pediatricians of Richeson Drive Pediatrics. Now Lynchburg Pediatrics. He promoted healthy children and being active outside. When he died at a young age a memorial race was started to honor his passion for promoting healthy lifestyles. \nRace distances and courses are….3 & under 1/8th mile\, 4-5 yrs old 1/4 mile\, 6-7 yrs. old 1/2 mile\, 8-13 yrs. old 1 mile. All events take place at Riverside Park\, Rivermont Ave.\, Lynchburg\, Virginia. Proceeds benefit the Lynchburg Road Runners Club a 501c3 non-profit whose mission remains to promote community health and wellness through the sport of running.

DESCRIPTION:This run and walk is for anyone who has been impacted by colon cancer because NO ONE FIGHTS ALONE. Survivors\, current battlers\, caregivers\, family members\, friends\, coworkers\, sisters\, husbands\, mothers\, or anyone who wants to increase access to healthcare and screening sign up to help change the statistics. \nColon Cancer screening is one of the most underused ways to save someone’s life from cancer that exists. Stage one colon cancer has over a 90% survival rate but colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the US. Lack of access to healthcare and early screening measures but 60% of these deaths can be avoided with screening. 76% of uninsured have not had a colon cancer screening and lack access to proper medical care. \nThe FREE CLINIC OF CENTRAL VIRGINIA\nThe mission of the Free Clinic of Central Virginia is to ensure high-quality\, compassionate\, and comprehensive healthcare for every member of our community. We fulfill this mission by providing high-quality medical\, dental\, pharmacy\, behavioral health\, and health education services to those in Central Virginia who do not have the resources to obtain these essential healthcare services. We are not funded by the government but instead we are funded by our community and largely run by volunteers that are passionate about serving others. We are here for you.

It has become a great community and family event. The Memorial Day 10K is the 7th race in the 2024 Lynchburg Road Runners Race Series.

DESCRIPTION:Start your 4th of July celebration with Percival’s Island Firecracker 5 Miler! \nLynchburg is known as the “Hill City”….but this course is flat\, flat\, flat.  The start finish is located at the Blackwater Creek Natural Area Percival’s Island in downtown Lynchburg and the course follows the Blackwater Creek Bikeway…a paved rails to trails path along the James River. A bit longer than a 5k but without the effort of a 10k\, 5 miles is considered by many the perfect distance.

DESCRIPTION:What’s one of the fastest ways to a 1 mile personal best?  A downhill mile of course! Join us Friday evening for the Kemper Downhill Mile. Fun\, Downhill\, and FAST are words that best describe this course.  The event is the final event of the 2024 Spring/ Summer Lynchburg Road Runners Race Series. \nRegistration will open late May 2024. \nTHE LEGEND OF KEMPER the RABBIT\nSometime around 1912\, the same year that the Kemper Street Train Station was opened by Southern Railway\, local Lynchburg residents recall witnessing a certain rabbit chasing trains as they left station. It wasn’t long before that rabbit was given the name “Kemper”. Some say Kemper was able to keep up with departing trains for almost a mile!  If you are lucky to run the Kemper Street Trail extension early in the morning you might see a descendant or two of Kemper running right along side you.

DESCRIPTION:Join area youth runners of all ages for the 31st Annual Dr. John A. Stephenson Memorial Youth Run presented by the Lynchburg Road Runners. Dr. Stephenson was one of the founding pediatricians of Richeson Drive Pediatrics. Now Lynchburg Pediatrics. He promoted healthy children and being active outside. When he died at a young age a memorial race was started to honor his passion for promoting healthy lifestyles. \nRace distances and courses are….3 & under 1/8th mile\, 4-5 yrs old 1/4 mile\, 6-7 yrs. old 1/2 mile\, 8-13 yrs. old 1 mile. All events take place at Riverside Park\, Rivermont Ave.\, Lynchburg\, Virginia. Proceeds benefit the Lynchburg Road Runners Club a 501c3 non-profit whose mission remains to promote community health and wellness through the sport of running.
