DESCRIPTION:10K Race Description (RUN ONLY): \nThe 10K begins at the Main Street Plaza on the High Bridge State Park Trail in Farmville\, Virginia. This out and back course runs in the direction of the old Farmville train station. Grade is relatively flat. Surface is fine\, crushed\, gravel. Timing and scoring of the 10K run will be provided. Both the 10K and the 5K events start together at 8:30am.  Medals will be presented to the top 3 overall male & female finishers and top finishers in each age category that participated in the 10K. In previous years\, this event has successfully raised funds for colon cancer awareness\, education\, and screenings. Unfortunately\, this past Christmas\, our clinic building suffered extensive smoke damage due to a nearby fire. \nAs we work to RISE and REBUILD\, we are pivoting our efforts to ensure our patients continue to receive care at alternative locations. DESCRIPTION:The Heart of Virginia Festival has been moved to September. As a result the annual Heart of Virginia 10k & 5K has moved to September. We look forward to continuing this Farmville tradition! \n10K Race Description (RUN ONLY): \nThe 10K begins at the Main Street Plaza on the High Bridge State Park Trail in Farmville\, Virginia. This out and back course runs in the direction of the old Farmville train station. Grade is relatively flat. Surface is fine\, crushed\, gravel. Timing and scoring of the 10K run will be provided. Both the 10K and the 5K events start together at 8:30am.  Medals will be presented to the top 3 overall male & female finishers and top finishers in each age category that participated in the 10K. DESCRIPTION:This run and walk is for anyone who has been impacted by colon cancer because NO ONE FIGHTS ALONE. Survivors\, current battlers\, caregivers\, family members\, friends\, coworkers\, sisters\, husbands\, mothers\, or anyone who wants to increase access to healthcare and screening sign up to help change the statistics. \nColon Cancer screening is one of the most underused ways to save someone’s life from cancer that exists. Stage one colon cancer has over a 90% survival rate but colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the US. Lack of access to healthcare and early screening measures but 60% of these deaths can be avoided with screening. 76% of uninsured have not had a colon cancer screening and lack access to proper medical care. \nThe FREE CLINIC OF CENTRAL VIRGINIA\nThe mission of the Free Clinic of Central Virginia is to ensure high-quality\, compassionate\, and comprehensive healthcare for every member of our community. We fulfill this mission by providing high-quality medical\, dental\, pharmacy\, behavioral health\, and health education services to those in Central Virginia who do not have the resources to obtain these essential healthcare services. We are not funded by the government but instead we are funded by our community and largely run by volunteers that are passionate about serving others. We are here for you.

This out and back course runs in the direction of the old Farmville train station. Grade is relatively flat. Surface is fine\, crushed\, gravel. Timing and scoring of the 10K run will be provided. Both the 10K and the 5K events start together at 8:30am.  Medals will be presented to the top 3 overall male & female finishers and top finishers in each age category that participated in the 10K. Categories for men and women include: 18 & under\, 19 – 29\, 30 – 39\, 40 – 49\, 50 – 59\, 60 – 69\, 70 & over. \n5K Run/Walk Description (RUN & WALK): \nThe 5K begins at the Main Street Plaza on the High Bridge State Park Trail in Farmville\, Virginia.
