SUMMARY:Rudolph's Christmas Eve Eve Reindeer Romp
DESCRIPTION:Please join the Lynchburg Road Runners Club (LRRC) and all your cool running friends for this annual Fun Run on the iconic Virginia Ten Miler course! Since Christmas Eve morning falls on a Sunday this year\, in order to not conflict with church services that day\, the Fun Run has been moved to Saturday\, December 23 @ 8am\, which keeps it in line with a normal running day for most of Santa’s elves who are trying to stay in shape during the Christmas season. Besides\, Santa’s elves will be plenty busy enough already on Christmas Eve day while his reindeer are resting for their big night! Santa and Rudolph would appreciate it if any elves would volunteer to bring some tasty treats to share with the other elves and reindeer! Hot drinks too! Elves and reindeer get hungry and thirsty from running! Festive holiday attire is encouraged! There might even be a special gift from Santa for the best costume! While some elves and reindeer will run the entire 10 mile course\, feel free to come out and run as much or as little of it as you like that day! YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A MEMBER OF THE LRRC TO PARTICIPATE! Also\, in the past\, it has been our habit of doing a shirt swap as part of this activity\, so if you have an over-abundance of running shirts in good condition taking up room in your drawers and closet and you wouldn’t mind parting with some\, please bring them along in case someone else would enjoy getting a new-to-them running shirt. All unclaimed shirts will be donated to charity. Since the roads are not closed for this event\, we will run on the sidewalks along Langhorne Road\, Rivermont Terrace\, and Rivermont Avenue. PLEASE DO NOT RUN IN THE STREETS FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY! This is a run-at-your-own-risk event so please adhere to traffic signals when crossing streets and watch out for yourself and your fellow runners!

Bethany is an accomplished ultramarathon runner and currently holds the fifth fastest Beast Series finishing time for females. \nWhen she’s not crushing on the trails\, she works as Assistant Director of Health and Wellness at Liberty University. She assists with wellness initiatives\, special projects\, and Live Healthy Liberty which is a coalition board. All of these are initiatives to help Liberty be a healthier campus. \nBethany will be sharing some simple ways to live healthier in the new year along with highlighting a dish from The Water Dog. In addition we will share several area businesses whose aim is to improve health and will work with you to achieve your goals. SUMMARY:Sci Fest Pi Run (Randolph College)
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a 3.14 mile fun run/walk and pie for all! Free and open to the public. March 14 is Pi Day! Pi Day represents the first three digits of Pi and is Einstein’s birthday. \nWe will start at Randolph College’s Main Hall (front campus) at 6:00 pm sharp. The first 150 registered get a free t-shirt and all finishers get a piece of pi(e)! \nThe course is GPS measured and runs from Main Hall\, front campus\, heads left on Rivermont Avenue\, stay on sidewalk left to Norfolk Avenue\, and then left again to the Randolph College track\, does a U-Turn and heads back up past front campus and along Rivermont all the way to VES Road. Turn around at the stop sign at the top of VES. Trace your way back to front campus\, and finish in front of Main Hall. This is a funrun and traffic will not be stopped. You must stay on sidewalks the whole way and give way to traffic at intersections. We will ask you to sign a waiver when you arrive\, and this will entitle you to your free t-shirt and the opportunity to win door prizes!

DESCRIPTION:Support our Armed Forces at the National D-Day Memorial by participating in a patriotic themed 5K Run/Walk and Youth Fun Run! Not only does the race begin and end at the picturesque Memorial\, but a total change in elevation of 220 feet provides a unique challenge for runners of all levels to “Conquer the Hill.” Participants will also have the opportunity to honor and interact with members of the Armed Forces past and present. Been celebrating a bit too much this holiday season? Need to get that last minute shopping done? No worries! Just come out and run as much as you care to that day! As always\, we will have our yearly shirt swap which allows folks to clean out their closets and drawers and maybe find a new owner for some poor unused shirt! Please donate only like-new or very gently worn shirts! Any unclaimed shirts will be donated to charity. Baked goods\, hot chocolate\, cider\, or any other type of post-run food/drink would be appreciated! If bringing something to share\, please indicate what so we don’t end up with a dozen fruitcakes and no chocolate chip cookies! Gatorade will be provided. Festive holiday attire is encouraged! Event is held rain\, shine\, snow\, sleet…you get the idea! Fine Print: This is a no fee event and one does not have to be a member of the Lynchburg Road Runners Club (LRRC) to participate so bring your family and friends! While this event is sanctioned and promoted by the LRRC\, it is a “run at your own risk” event. Runners MUST stay on the sidewalks and not run in the roadway except as necessary for crossing the street! Please be cautious of vehicles when crossing streets\, watch out for one another\, and be courteous to other runners and walkers on the sidewalks. THIS IS NOT A RACE!

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a 3.14 mile fun run/walk and pie for all! Free and open to the public. March 14 is Pi Day! Pi Day represents the first three digits of Pi and is Einstein’s birthday. \nWe will start at Randolph College’s Main Hall (front campus) at 6:00 pm sharp. The first 150 registered get a free t-shirt and all finishers get a piece of pi(e)! \nThe course is GPS measured and runs from Main Hall\, front campus\, heads left on Rivermont Avenue\, stay on sidewalk left to Norfolk Avenue\, and then left again to the Randolph College track\, does a U-Turn and heads back up past front campus and along Rivermont all the way to VES Road. Turn around at the stop sign at the top of VES. Trace your way back to front campus\, and finish in front of Main Hall. This is a funrun and traffic will not be stopped. You must stay on sidewalks the whole way and give way to traffic at intersections. We will ask you to sign a waiver when you arrive\, and this will entitle you to your free t-shirt and the opportunity to win door prizes!

DESCRIPTION:Lighten-Up Lynchburg is a timed 5K Run/Walk to encourage activity and increase awareness about the obesity epidemic. This race is hosted by the Lynchburg Mayor’s Youth Council\, and a portion of the money earned will go towards raising obesity awareness. \nThe 5K will take place at Peaks View Park–a very flat course\, so predict fast times! Please park at either the Ardmore or Tenbury Drive entrance. \nPacket Pickup will take place at Riverside Runners on Friday\, March 22\, 2019 from 12-6pm\, and Saturday\, March 23\, 2019 from 9-9:30am at Peaksview Park. Registration will be available during these times as well. The race will begin at 9:30 am. \nAwards will be given to the top three male and female finishers\, as well as the top two finishers\, male and female\, for each of the following age groups: 12 & Under\, 13-18\, 19-29\, 30-39\, 40-49\, 50-59\, 60 & Up. \nT-shirts are guaranteed to everyone who registers by February 8\, 2019.
