DESCRIPTION:The Neighbors Helping Neighbors Fall 5k\, presented by Neighbors Helping Neighbors of Amherst County\, will take place on the beautiful campus of Sweet Briar College. Enjoy the picturesque scenery of the infamous “Dairy Loop” as well as the surrounding of Sweet Briar College. Proceeds from this event support Neighbors Helping Neighbors of Amherst County\, Inc (NHN) where our primary focus is to assist individuals in overcoming food insecurity by providing nutritious meals through food kitchens and selective shopping Food Warehouse. On May 5th\, 2016\, we started serving nutritious lunch meals to anyone who has a need for a meal that day during lunchtime. NHN Volunteers prep and serve lunches twice a week.

She shares stories from some of her most vulnerable moments\, sprinkling humor amidst the sometimes horrific. She knows from experience that just because life batters you\, it doesn’t mean you have to stay beat down. Today\, as an accomplished mid-life Ironman triathlete\, she helps people of all ages face their fears\, overcome their anxieties\, and discover the beauty of a victorious life. \nDr. Meyer also offers individual and small group courage coaching based on her expertise as a licensed chiropractic physician\, but even more\, she coaches from an experiential perspective. You CAN find courage\, embrace your value\, and defy fear. If you want to feel inspired and motivated to accomplish your dreams\, goals\, and desires\, come hear from Dr. Nancy! \nRebekah Trittipoe is an 8-time author and speaker. Her life exemplifies focus\, motivation\, endurance\, and perseverance. After a three-year stint as a high school teacher and coach\, she furthered her studies at The Ohio State College of Medicine\, School of Allied Health Professions to gain the proper education setting her up for a 25-year career inside the walls of cardiac surgery operating rooms. She quickly rose to multiple national leadership positions within the American Society of Extracorporeal Technology\, culminating in becoming the National Manager of Continuing Medical Education. This role offered many opportunities to provide instruction and a call to excellence from platforms worldwide.  \nAfter retiring from the medical field\, Rebekah authored 8 books\, started a blog\, and continues to impact audiences in a variety of venues: schools and universities\, athletic departments\, coaches\, athletes\, faith-based groups\, and industry. She uses stories from medicine and her 50 year athletic career to inspire and motivate audiences to become better people because better people make better anythings.

DESCRIPTION:This run and walk is for anyone who has been impacted by colon cancer because NO ONE FIGHTS ALONE. Survivors\, current battlers\, caregivers\, family members\, friends\, coworkers\, sisters\, husbands\, mothers\, or anyone who wants to increase access to healthcare and screening sign up to help change the statistics. \nColon Cancer screening is one of the most underused ways to save someone’s life from cancer that exists. Stage one colon cancer has over a 90% survival rate but colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the US. Lack of access to healthcare and early screening measures but 60% of these deaths can be avoided with screening. 76% of uninsured have not had a colon cancer screening and lack access to proper medical care. \nThe FREE CLINIC OF CENTRAL VIRGINIA\nThe mission of the Free Clinic of Central Virginia is to ensure high-quality\, compassionate\, and comprehensive healthcare for every member of our community. We fulfill this mission by providing high-quality medical\, dental\, pharmacy\, behavioral health\, and health education services to those in Central Virginia who do not have the resources to obtain these essential healthcare services. We are not funded by the government but instead we are funded by our community and largely run by volunteers that are passionate about serving others. We are here for you.

DESCRIPTION:Eastlake Community Church invites you to participate in the 6th Annual Beastlake 5K and Obstacle Course races on Saturday July 6th. This is a community event open to all people\, of all fitness levels\, from the novice to the hardcore athlete. Choose from one of three events that best suits your fitness and skill level. This event raises fund for Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy. \nThe BeastLake is back for the sixth year\, and we have some new twists along with favorite obstacles from past years. Back for 2024 is a “ stay cool” option to the course that includes a ‘slip n slide” type water slide down part of the course\, an option to do the balance beam over an inflatable pool. and an option to run through a section of sprinklers midway through the race. All the water features are OPTIONAL and designed to bring an additional fun experience to the race. We will also be having food trucks at this years race with registered 5KOC and 5K participants receiving food vouchers.
